Creatigies makes ING Vysya Life roar with the PHL, Bangalore Lions

In an effective marketing move, and a significant contribution to the development of hockey in India, ING Vysya has announced that it will sponsor the Bangalore team in the Premier Hockey League (PHL) for a period of four years.

In addition, ING Vysya will also be the official life insurer of Premier Hockey League. All participating Indian players (in Tier I and II) will be provided with a life insurance cover for the entire year.

The Bangalore Hi-Fliers has now been re-christened as Bangalore Lions. “The spontaneous response from ING Vysya to the concept created by us, and the team spirit with which ESPN-STAR Sports took this forward made the real difference. We are happy and proud that this is a significant development in the way brands and companies are investing in a game so dear to the man on the street,” said Navroze D Dhondy, CEO Creatigies Communications. Dhondy has been instrumental in creating the concept of the ING Vysya –Bangalore Lions.

Speaking on ING Vysya’s interest in Indian hockey, Frank Koster, CEO, ING Vysya Life, said, “The aim of this association is to develop and promote hockey in India. We have started off with Bangalore Lions and we are keen to play a much bigger role in promoting hockey in India. Premier Hockey League with its many innovations has caught the fancy of the entire hockey fraternity in the world. We are very glad to be a part of this innovative league.”

R C Venkateish, Managing Director, ESPN Software India Pvt Ltd, said, “We welcome ING Vysya for their sponsorship of the Bangalore Lions and for providing life insurance for the Indian players. We were happy to take this forward when Creatigies mooted the idea, and look forward to this being the forerunner to other corporates realising the value of such associations and sponsorship”

Besides the Bangalore Lions sponsorship, ING Vysya will also be awarding the “Lion of the Day” to each man of the match for Tier I and Tier II games. The Tier I ‘Lion of the Day’ will be awarded Rs 10,000, while Tier II ‘Lion of the Day’ will be rewarded Rs 5,000. ‘Lion of the Day’ during the best of three finals will get Rs 15,000 each.

ING Vysya Life will be also running several activities to generate enthusiasm and support for the Bangalore Lions team in their home city. There will be a road show and a contest to write the best slogan for the Lions as well as a chance for the ING Vysya Life customers to go and see the team play in Chandigarh.
