Communicate2 to tap global interactive promotions market

Communicate2, a Mumbai-based digital marketing firm specialising in interaction design and Web promotions, has chalked out plans to tap the international interactive promotions market beginning next month. As part of a new corporate thrust, the company has also decided to shift its focus from incubation to Web solutions, including interactive design and promotions.

Continuing its success in the domestic sphere, Communicate2 has also bagged Commerce One’s account for its entire interaction design job, besides creating flash demos for its software as well as CD-ROM. The association with Commerce One, the global e-marketplace company has recently entered India, is expected to generate new businesses as Communicate2 is the preferred design partner for various corporate houses implementing Commerce One platform. Communicate2 projects to post revenues of $500,000 in fiscal 2001-02 and hopes to have 100 per cent growth rate for the next four years. Around a third of its revenues is expected to come from multi-media in the current fiscal.

As per its new corporate plan, the focus has clearly shifted from incubation division to cash-generating Web solutions division. Thus, Ultimedia Technologies will remain as an asset management entity, holding equity of other ventures like kagaz.com, asianindians.com, paan.com, uphaar.com among others; while Communicate2 will be promoted to emerge as a leading global player in the niche sector of interaction design and promotions.

For the last three years, Communicate2 has been helping corporate houses use technology creatively to make their marketing and communication strategies more effective. The portfolio of Communicate2 includes national and international clients like MTV, Merill Lynch, Home Trade, Essel World, United Television, Baan, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu, Mahindra and Mahindra, and recently Commerce One.

At a recent Abby’s advertising awards in Mumbai, Communicate2 bagged both gold awards in the interactive categories: the company’s chain promotion application called ‘VJ Disguise’ created for mtvindia.com was adjudged the best brand promotion on the Internet while sonalisa.com, an art portal, was declared the Best Indian Site for a Brand/Company.

Communicate2 is also in the process of building a community of interaction designers. Also, based on its strategy to target select clients and do extensive job for them, Communicate2 hopes to have a client base of 55 by fiscal year-end up from 30 now.
