Commemorating 60 years of India’s Independence, Coca-Cola India has launched ‘India Extraordinaire, 60 Years, 60 Luminaries’, a special edition of the Limca Book of Records. The first-of-its-kind book catalogues the contribution of 60 Indians who have made a significant contribution to the country. Kamal Nath, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Muhtar Kent, President and COO, The Coca-Cola Company, unveiled the special edition of the record book.

The launch event was organised in partnership with CII. Also present on the occasion was Richard Holbrooke, Chairman, The Asia Society, and Tarun Das, Chief Mentor, CII. To create awareness about the indomitable spirit of Indians and to connect them globally, the new website of Limca Book of Records was also launched by Sunil Bharti Mittal, President, CII, and Chairman and Group CEO, Bharti Enterprises.

The special edition of the Limca Book of Records was unveiled amidst a felicitation ceremony for some special records holders and eminent personalities who have done India proud. This 152-page special edition of the Limca Book of Records incorporates achievements of 60 stalwarts across 13 fields like medical science, literature, entertainment, defence, sports. The list of 60 luminaries who grace this special edition book were drawn by the experienced panelists H K Dua, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune, and Prof. Dipankar Gupta from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Nath said, “I compliment Coca-Cola India for the ‘Limca Book of Records -- India Extraordinaire, 60 years, 60 Luminaries’, which stands as a special and a befitting tribute to our country, and more importantly, the talent that the people of India represent. These luminaries showcase the indomitable spirit and energy of a new, young and zealous India. Equally, the luminaries from India portray our global face and the ability to seamlessly integrate with the world across streams.”

According to Kent, “Limca Book of Records is a one-of-its-kind book that celebrates the extraordinary achievements of Indians across the globe. India is one of the world’s fastest growing economies, but what really defines the country is her indomitable spirit. The achievements of the 60 stalwarts captured in this special edition subtly reveal the grandeur of India’s 60 glorious years of Independence. The Coca-Cola Company shares a long and endearing association with India, and it is our hope that India will be among our top global markets in the future.”
