Clio Awards signs on NDTV Media as official representative for South Asia

Clio Awards and Festivals is accentuating its focus on South Asia, especially the Indian market. In the process, the organisation has signed on NDTV Media as its official representative for the South Asian region. NDTV Media would be working closely with Clio to grow the latter’s relationship with the Indian media, advertising and marketing fraternity.

Confirming the development, Ami Brophy, Executive Director, Clio Awards said that NDTV would also help strengthen Clio’s presence in the South Asian Region. The agreement was signed on November 13, 2006 and is effective immediately. Brophy clarified that this deal wasn’t a result of a sudden realisation of the importance of the Indian market, but had been arrived at following talks lasting nearly a year.

She said, “India has been always an important market for us and ever since I have come on board, which is almost four years now, we have not only been encouraging Indian entries but also inviting Indian professionals to be part of our jury. So far, we have worked with the Ad Club for representing us here. Even as this has been a long and fruitful relationship, we really had to take our activities to the next level and we found a perfect partner for that in NDTV Media.”

As to what this would do for NDTV Media, Raj Nayak, CEO, NDTV Media, said, “Clio really is the Oscars of the advertising and media world. We are in a business where anything and everything to do with advertising interests us and we saw an opportunity in partnering with these prestigious Awards.”

He pointed out that despite being one of the most important international advertising Awards, there was still a lot about Clio that could be brought to the South Asian audience. He said, “There is a lot of great advertising happening in India and Clio isn’t a simple Award. In fact, it is one of the most rigorously judged Awards and that makes is one of the most credible Awards that there is.”

In addition to the relation building activities that can be expected, some of initiatives that are planned around the Awards for India are Clio Awards screenings, road shows and even the organisation of delegations to be taken to the Festival.
