Clio Awards shortlist announced; O&M leads Indian agencies in the list, followed by Leo Burnett

The shortlist for the best creative work in adverting for the 49th Annual Clio Awards has been announced. Seven Indian agencies have made it to the shortlist this year, with O&M leading with eight entries, followed by Leo Burnett with four entries and JWT India with three entries.

The other four Indian agencies in the Clio Awards 2008 shortlist are Rediffusion DYR, Mudra, Euro RSCG and Meridian Communications with one entry each.

O&M has eight entries in the shortlist this year in the categories of Print for Ogilvy & Mather Headline in the Corporate/Institutional sub-category; HotWheels, Lifetime Prepaid Card, and Marbels all for Product/Service sub-category. In the category of Public Service, O&M has gained two entries – Bus Apollo Hospital Reincarnation and The Indian Association for Promotion of Adoption and Child Welfare. In the Radio Shortlist, O&M has an entry for Videocon TV under the Product/Service sub-category, and for Neo Sports under the Television/Cinema shortlist.

Leo Burnet has an entry in the Print: Direct Mail Shortlist for Sri Aurobindo Consultancy Memory Notepad. The agency’s works for Luxor Highlighter titled ‘Che’, ‘Chaplin’ and ‘Hitler’ have made it to the Print Category shortlist in the Product/Service sub-category. The agency’s work for Reliance has also made it to the Print shortlist, while its Save Trees - Sanctuary work titled Giraffe has made it to the Print shortlist in the Media sub-category.

JWT India has three entries in the shortlist – Reynolds Permanent Marker for Print shortlist, and Nike cricket and Pondicherry Yoga Festival in the Television/Cinema shortlist.

Rediffusion DYR has been shortlisted for Innovative Media shortlist for its work for Sugar Free. While Mudra and Euro RSCG have made it to the Print shortlist for Duroflex Mattresses and Harpic Drain Cleaner, respectively. The 49th Annual Clio Awards would be presented during the 2008 Clio Festival, which would be held on May 14-17 in South Beach, Florida. The Clio Awards honours work in a broad range of mediums, including Interactive, Content & Contact, Television / Cinema / Digital, Print, Poster, Billboard, Innovative Media, Integrated Campaign, Radio and Design. Student work is also recognised in Interactive, Print, Poster, Billboard, Design and Television / Cinema / Digital.

In addition to honouring specific work, Clio also bestows its annual Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding and ongoing contribution by an individual, who leads the industry forward, as well as Network, Agency, Production Company and Advertiser of the Year Awards.
