Cartoon Network launches new shows after consumer insights study

Starting this June, Cartoon Network will launch a series of new shows. The shows include the action-adventure series ''X-Men: Evolution'', ''Justice League'' and ''Jackie Chan Adventures'', and the comic series ''The All New Popeye Show''.

Says Hema Govindan, VP Marketing and PR, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia Inc., "Based on a study that we had undertaken to get an insight into our target audience, i.e. kids aged 4-14, we found that action-adventure and comedy are the two most favorite genres among them. All the programmes lined up for this summer are in accordance with our findings on their tastes and preferences."

"Moreover, Justice League, which is centered on some of the greatest comic book heroes, is strategically launched at this opportune moment, when the theatrical release of ''Spiderman'' has crossed all box office records and is creating raves in India", says Govindan. Justice League, the new show on Cartoon Network, is centered around some of the greatest comic book heroes including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Hawkgirl.

Apart from the most favorite genres, the study revealed many other interesting facts. According to the study, the peak primetime viewing amongst the age group of 4-14 is 5:00p.m to 7:00p.m. Also, this is the time when the kids generally have control over the TV remote, which is why Cartoon Network has placed the new series in these slots.
