Big Bang 2007: Rediffusion DY&R is Agency of the Year again

Rediffusion DY&R swept the Bangalore Ad Club’s Big Bang 2007 Awards with 36 metals and ‘Agency of the Year’ Award to boot. This is the second successive year that the agency has bagged this Award. In all, Rediffusion DY&R bagged 12 Golds, 12 Silvers and 12 Bronzes.

Mudra bagged 11 awards that included three Golds, four Silvers and four Bronzes, followed by TBWA\India, which won nine metals – three Golds, three Silvers and three Bronzes.

Mindshare walked away with the ‘Best Media Agency of the Year’, while Airtel was declared ‘Client of the Year’.

This year, several large-sized agencies such as McCann-Erickson, FCB Ulka (soon to be named Draft Ulka), JWT, O&M, Lintas and Orchard stayed away from the Awards.

This year saw a total of 575 entries from 27 agencies and 10 clients. The Best Continuing Campaign (three years) was won by Mudra Communications for Rm K Vishwanath Pillai & Sons. Rediffusion DY&R bagged the Ayaz Peerbhoy Multimedia Campaign of the Year Award for the Earth Tree campaign. Nirvana Films walked away with the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in TVC Durable and Non-Durable categories. It was also declared ‘Film Production House of the Year’.

Among the other Award winners were Contract Advertising; Turino Advertising, Cochin; The Circle; Saatchi & Saatchi Direct; Euro RSCG; Impact Films; Temple; iContract; White Canvas; OMS; Origami Creative Concepts; Maxus Interaction; Maxus, Bangalore; UFO India Ltd; MAA Communications; Sabre Marketing Services; and Pentagon Communications. Radio Mirchi bagged a Gold for ‘Best Radio Spot-Kannada’ and a Silver for ‘Best Media Innovation – Radio’.

No entries were received for the Rural Advertising, Best Kannada Film and Best Kannada Outdoor Campaign categories.

The Big Bang Awards also gave due recognition to individual excellence. Rediffusion DY&R’s Anto Noval was adjudged ‘Best Copywriter if the Year’, while the same agency’s Sandeep Kumar was declared the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’. Advertising veteran R K Sheshadri of Vishesh Advertising was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Rastogi, President, The Advertising Club, Bangalore, said, “There is more to these Awards than just trophies. The Big Bang rewards excellence and encourages creative talent. Today, the Indian marketplace is opening up to global players. We need advertising on par with world standards to package and sell our products. We believe these Awards are a catalyst in the growth and development of our advertising standards.”
