Bhuj becoming hottest locale for Ad World

Bhuj, the quaint old scenic town of Gujarat, which was suddenly catapulted to the world map following the January 2001 killer quake, is topping the popularity sweepstakes as the hottest new locale for the advertising world.

Bhuj is the backdrop for the Coke’s latest advertising campaign for Thums Up starring Akshay Kumar for the north Indian market and South matinee idol Chiranjeev for its south Indian campaign.

Fast moving consumer goods’ (FMCJ) major Hindustan Lever Limited’s new ad campaign for its Ponds’ range of toiletries featuring Sushmita Sen will have Bhuj landscape as a backdrop. FMCG and white goods major Godrej has reportedly chosen the town for shooting its new advertising campaign featuring popular telestar Amar Upadhayaya of the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi fame.

Similarly, Dunlop has screetched to a halt at Bhuj doorsteps to demonstrate the sturdiness of its tyres. The Atlas group is also racing to shoot its new ad series with macho man Sunny Deol in Bhuj.

With all the rush of adrenaline, Bhuj residents are keeping an eye on big arrivals. The yet-under wraps ad campaign by Pepsi starring Amitabh Bachchan is expected to be shot in Bhuj.
