Close on the heels of announcing an investment of $8.65 million in the group by Yahoo Inc and Canaan Partners, BharatMatrimony has called on creative and media agencies to pitch for its businesses. The combined size of the business is estimated to be in the region of Rs 25 crore. The account will be driven out of Chennai and the group may also consider an exclusive agency to handle the BTL mandate.
The BharatMatrimony Group was one of the earliest enterprises in the online space in India. Having started in 1997, with Bharatmatrimony.com, the group today has expanded to other verticals with ClickJobs.com, IndiaProperty.com, IndiaAutomobile.com, sms5050.com, indiapages.com and IndiaList.Com.
“The expectation from the agency is to grow on and enhance the leadership position of BharatMatrimony. For the new brands, the agenda is to establish them among the top three on recall in their respective categories,” said Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO, BharatMatrimony Group.
The agenda is to have one creative agency for all the businesses, and one media agency. Till the third quarter of FY2005-06, David had handled creative responsibilities, while Interface had handled the media duties. After that, all advertising was shifted to an in house creative team.
“Till date, we haven’t finalised on the list of agencies to be invited for the pitch. But we are open to ideas. Some of the agencies have already approached us. The preliminary presentations are scheduled for August 17 and 18,” added Janakiraman.
The group has also launched 40 BharatMatrimony centres, an offline venture. Another 300 centres across India and in other parts of the world have been planned in the next two years.
