: BAG Films enters into JV with S Korean animation firm; also seeks name change

Delhi-based media company BAG Films has entered into a joint venture with South Korean firm Sieundesign Co. to form an animation company. Sieundesign has presence in the production, distribution and licensing of animation movies and television series. The new company has been christened as BAG & Sieun Animation (P) Ltd, and Kim Hye Jin has taken over as its GM-Production. She will be reporting to Anurradha Prasad, Managing Director, BAG Films.

Meanwhile, BAG Films has obtained approval from the Registrar of Companies, NCT, Delhi and Haryana for changing its name to BAG Films & Media Limited, and the same has been informed to the stock exchanges.

Prasad said, “The reason for the change in name is because we are in an expansion mode. BAG plans to launch two Hindi non-news channels and two Hindi news channels in six months.”

Through the animation JV, BAG Films aims to increase its presence in the animation and mobile telephony content business. The company has started operations at BAG’s animation studio facility at Film City, Noida, and has already commenced work on an animation series under the supervision of Jin.

Jin is currently working with Sieundesign Co. as Managing Director. Prior to joining Sieundesign, she was working with DR Movie, an animation and gaming company in South Korea as International Producer for a TV series titled ‘Avatar’ for Nickelodeon, and a 3D TV show titled ‘Firehouse Tales’ for Warner Bros. She has also worked for EMENES, South Korea, as Supervisor for a Disney TV show titled ‘Higgly Town Heroes’.

Jin has also worked in a leading American 3D gaming company called The Way Forward as Associate Producer wherein she was associated in many gaming projects for Warner Bros, Nickelodeon and Fox TV. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animation from California Institute of Arts.

Said Jin, “I am very excited about my new assignment in India and look forward to working with the best talents in this part of the world.”

Prasad said, “Kim’s joining as head of production will ensure a very good quality for our product and would also bring best international practices in the start-up venture, thus laying a solid foundation for future growth.”
