Naked Communications, the communications strategy outfit from Down Under, has unveiled its plans to launch in India. Post its takeover by Photon, the agency was expected to launch its offices in India, China and Brazil. Naked Communications Co-founder Jon Wilkins has confirmed the launch and hopes to set up an office in Mumbai as soon as his team is in place.
Wilkins said, “We will set up shop in Mumbai after we find the right people with the proper mentality as well as clients to work with. I cannot give an exact date of launch, but I believe we would be able to come here by the end of 2008.”
The agency already has offices in 11 places across the world and would not expand beyond the three more planned in India, China and Brazil. Denying any plans to enter into a partnership with any agency network, Wilkins said, “we work with almost all agencies and use their specialisations. And, we don’t want to be anybody’s enemy. We will definitely be independent in the country when we launch.”
Naked Communications is in an informal agreement with Dentsu in only the Japanese market, where the market dynamics require a partnership for setting up shop. The agency is currently on the lookout for people in senior managerial positions, who would be expanding the business in India.
