AOL appoints Madison Media as media AoR; Saatchi & Saatchi to handle creative duties

Having recently announced the launch of www.aol.in, AOL has appointed Madison Media as its media AoR, while Saatchi & Saatchi will handle the creative duties. There was no formal pitch involved for the businesses. Sources close to the development have pegged the total ad spend in the region of Rs 5-7 crore. The Bangalore offices of the two agencies will handle the account.

PG Ponnapa, VP and General Manager, AOL Interactive Media India, said, “We have always admired Madison as an organisation that is known for its strong commitment to delivery, and are happy that two reputed units of Madison World — Madison Media and Madison PR — will be strongly supporting AOL’s plans in India.”

Said Sam Balsara, Chairman and Managing Director, Madison World, “Time Warner, owner of AOL, is the world’s leading media company, and we are delighted that AOL has chosen us as its media and PR partner. I welcome AOL to our marquee client roster and am confident that we will not just meet but surpass their expectations.”

Ananad Baskaran, Communication Manager, AOL, said, “We felt that Saatchi & Saatchi has the creative ability to deliver our marketing objective. The thoughts and presentation that they have made were exactly what we were looking at in a creative partner. They have a strong reputation being part of a global network. All those factors were taken into consideration while choosing Saatchi & Saatchi as our creative partner.”

AOL Global Operations Limited runs the www.aol.in portal and other international ventures. AOL Global Operations Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL LLC.
