And the power battle at AAAI continues...

Even as the President Elections of the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) concluded over a month back, the Association is still solving power problems. As is known Sandeep Goyal, Chairman, Dentsu India, has challenged the voting process of the Executive Committee in court and the court has allowed Tanya Goyal, a member of the Executive Committee, to inspect the proxy votes and inform the court of the findings of the inspection.

Until this process is completed and heard, while the AAAI can continue with its ExCom meetings and can take decisions on the way forward, it has been instructed to not implement any of the decisions unless a decision on the case is taken.

The next hearing of the matter is scheduled for September 6, 2010, and the stay on implementing decisions would continue till then. While this has not stopped the AAAI from meeting and moving ahead with some of its activities, for instance, its involvement in Young Spikes, the court stay can interfere with the speed of work at the Association.

Since the matter is sub judice, no official comments were available from either Sandeep Goyal or the senior members of the AAAI. However, senior industry sources are now speaking on how discouraging it has been that people of the stature that are involved in the matter have not been able to come to any solution yet.

The new executive committee would be meeting on September 3, 2010 again, but it is unlikely that any solution would come forth on this in the meeting as well.
