The Bombay Ad Club is all set to hold the annual Abby Awards on March 3, 2007. This year, the Abbys coincides with the festival of colours, Holi. “This is the day when we celebrate Holi. It signifies festivity and colour. Advertising too is about various colours and this kind of vibrancy,” said Bipin Pandit, General Manager, Advertising Club.
This year will some new additions to the awards categories, including the Young Abby Award, sponsored by Cadbury’s, which will be a contest for creative directors who are 30 years of below. The contest will be for the best creative script submitted for Cadbury’s.
The South Asian Awards will also continue in their third year, which will see contestants from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal, taking part.
The chairperson of this year’s Abbys will be Kalpana Rao, President of the Ad Club, while Ajay Chandwani, CEO, Percept H, will be chairman of the judging committee.
“Last year, the response was so overwhelming that one single enclosure was not enough. This year, keeping that in mind, we have booked a separate enclosure for food and drinks,” added Pandit.
The event is expected to see the participation of celebrities and other well-known personalities from the media and corporate circles, though Pandit preferred to keep mum in this regard.
