In its 40th year, Abby Awards 2007 has received as many as 3100 entries from various advertising agencies. The entries have shot up by a figure of 500 from the previous year.
Participating agencies include O&M, Brand David, Bates, Vyas Giannetti Creative, Gray, Euro RSCG, Alok Nanda and Co., FCB Ulka, Interface, Percept, and Dentsu.
Among some of the film and productions houses, MTV, Red FM, Red Eye, Black Magic, Percept H, Ramesh Dev Productions, Flying Saucer, Sense and Warriors and Set India are also the contenders. The Times of India from the print domain will also be a part of the competition.
Ajay Chandwani, Chairman, Abby Awards Judging Committee said, “The fact that so many more organisations have come in, is a reflection on how well Abby is doing. Also, we are very grateful to whoever has involved been involved, especially among the judges. Overall, we are very happy with the turnout. I think Indian advertising is maturing, which is a good sign; we are pleased about the enthusiasm. There have also been lots of entries from outside India this year, which is very healthy.”
Bipin Pandit, General Manager, Bombay Ad Club stated that the Ad Club is happy with the response. “This is a fantastic response. It feels fabulous to get so many entries. I think it goes to show that people have faith and confidence in us, from the numbers we have received. We are doing our best to ensure that there is full transparency in the judging as well,” he said.
Kalpana Rao, President, Ad Club said, “It’s great that so many people are participating. It would have been great if there were more, I would have liked that. But this number in itself is fantastic.” The event is scheduled to take place on March 3, 2007.
