A total of 575 entries from 27 small, medium and large-sized agencies will compete for Big Bang-2007, the annual creative awards competition organised by the Advertising Club of Bangalore, which will be held at Glass House, Bangalore Palace on July 27. Interestingly, large-sized agencies like McCann-Erickson, FCB Ulka, JWT, O&M, Lintas and Orchard are not taking part in Big Bang-2007
“Last weekend saw over 10 eminent marketing and advertising professionals spending many hours judging some very interesting and exciting creative work,” said Arvind Kumar, Executive Director, The Advertising Club, Bangalore.
The jury consisted of Dan Ginsberg, Founder Chairman, Draft Worldwide; Harish Bijoor, Founder, Harish Bijoor Consultants; S Ghosh, Head, Saatchi & Saatchi; Alok Arora, Head-Marketing, Sanyo BPL; Vishnu Patel, CEO-International, UFO Moviez; Vinod Nair, President-India and South Asia, Getty Images; Nischal Puri, Head-Marketing, Jockey; Gautham Machaiah, Corporate Vice President, and filmmaker Meera Pillai, among others.
“There is excitement building up and the creative people are eager to know the outcome of the awards. DNA Networks is gearing to put up a thematic show. Ad Club, Bangalore has made entry to the awards strictly by invitation, and those wanting an invite have to become members this year of the year and get a free invite,” Kumar said.
Moreover, for the first time, the Ad Club Bangalore has introduced two new categories. One is for local language ads, which will encompass awards for Kannada press ad, film ad, outdoor ad, and TV commercial. The second new category is the media awards on the line of Emvies, which will be judged by a jury of media specialists. The media awards will cover the entire gamut of media -- both conventional and new media.
The lead sponsor of Big Bang Awards 2007 is Bangalore Mirror. The other sponsors include Zee TV Kannada, Visage-Getty Images, Prop Mart and BIG FM.
Rediffusion DY&R Bangalore had bagged the ‘Agency of the Year’ award with six Golds, two Silvers and six Bronzes at Big Bang 2006. Orchard Bangalore, which is not participating this time, emerged second in rank, having bagged five Golds, one Silver, and one Bronze.
