39 Indian works in Outdoor Lions; 4 in Radio Lions shortlisted

Apart from the Press Lions and Media Lions, the Radio Lions and Outdoor Lions were also announced at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2009. There are a whopping 39 works shortlisted in Outdoor Lions including both the entries from outdoor campaigns and single entries. There are only four Indian entries in the Radio Lions shortlist.

39 works in Outdoor Lions; Ogilvy leads; Publicis and Leo Burnett follow
Ogilvy India has four campaign entries, which include two entries ‘Cola’ and ‘Gin’ from the campaign that Ogilvy India has done for Dabur India; it has three entries titled ‘Chicken-Goat’, ‘Duck-Horse’ and ‘Sea-horse-Crane’ for the campaign done for GlaxoSmithKline; two entries ‘Lion’ and ‘Polar Bear’ from for the campaign for Sanctuary Asia and three entries ‘Cave man’, ‘Diver’ & ‘Tourist’ for Perfetti Van Melle’s Sour Marbels Candies. The agency also has three standalone entries --- one each for India Posts, WWF India and SAB Miller India. In all there are 13 works from Ogilvy in the shortlist.

Publicis has quite a few shortlists too. Publicis India has two entries ‘Bruni’ and ‘Toto’ for the campaign for Kennel1. It has three entries ‘Dirty Whiteman’, ‘Japanese Tourist’ and ‘Beach Bum’ for the Omax campaign. Publicis India has one more standalone entry for In Gandhi’s Shoes.

Publicis Communication has three individual entries - one each for L’ Oreal India, for Cupid Condoms and for Wespro Digital. In all there are six works from Publicis India in the shortlist, and three from Publicis Communication.

Leo Burnett has two campaigns in the shortlist. The agency has three entries ‘Loo’, ‘Kitchen’ and ‘Baby Room’ for Bajaj Electricals and four entries ‘Stainbroidery’, ‘Ink’, ‘Ketchup’ and ‘Oil’ for P&G’s Tide. Leo Burnett has one standalone entry for Mumbai Railway Police. Eight Leo Burnett India works are there in the shortlist.

Rediffusion Y&R has one campaign with three entries ‘Housewife’, ‘Tourist’ and ‘Engineer’ for Bharti Airtel. This makes three from Rediffusion Y&R.

DDB Mudra has two entries ‘Bangalore–Dubai’ and ‘Mumbai–New York’ for the campaign for Air India.

CreativeLandAsia has one entry for India Street 2; Bates 141 has one entry for Cartik the Conjuror; Grey Worldwide has for 3M India and JWT India has one for Berger Paints.

The number of entries from India in this category dipped from 296 entries last year to 284 this year. India had won three Outdoor Lions last year.

Akira Kagami, Executive Officer & Global Executive Creative Director, Dentsu is the Jury President for this category. The Indian juror for Outdoor Lions is K S Chakravarthy (Chax), National Creative Director, DraftFCB+Ulka.

The judging process for Outdoor Lions commenced on June 19, 2009 and ended on June 22, 2009.

Four Indian entries in Radio Shortlist
The four Indian entries in Radio Lions shortlist include Publicis India for their work done for Stedfast; Bates 141 for the work done for Virgin Mobile India, DDB Mudra for the work done for Islamic Research Foundation and Rediffusion Y&R for the work done for American India Foundation.

The number of entries, for Radio Lions, from India increased to 52 this year, in comparison to the 36 last year. Last year India had won only one Radio Lion.

Matthew Bull, Chief Creative Officer, Lowe Worldwide is the Jury President for this category. Ashish Khazanchi, NCD, Publicis Ambience is the Indian juror for Radio Lions.

The judging process for Radio Lions commenced on June 19, 2009 and ended on June 22, 2009.
