33rd The One Show to be held in New York City from May 5-9, 2008

The One Show 2008, in its 33rd year now, would be held at Jazz, Lincoln Center, New York City on May 5. Produced by The One Club, a non-profit organisation, The One Show would award Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils for the best print, television, radio and innovative media of the year.

Mary Warlick, CEO, The One Club, said, “Winning a One Show Pencil is a career-defining honour. While there are many other advertising awards, the One Show Pencil is the most highly regarded award among advertising industry professionals. If you are in the advertising business, New York City is the place to be from March 5-9, 2008.”

Twenty-eight professionals have been selected to judge this year’s One Show. For the first time, the complete international jury would meet together in New York City to select One Show Pencils during the One Show Festival Week. There would be two preliminary judging sessions in Hawaii and the Dominican Republic prior to the jury selecting the Pencil winners.

The One Show Awards is a part of the One Show Festival Week, which for the first time would include One Show Design on May 6 at the Chelsea Art Museum. While design has been a part of The One Show since 2001, in 2007 a separate design awards ceremony was launched due to the growing emphasis on good design in the consumer marketplace and the overwhelming increase in entries in the design categories.

Another highlight for professionals coming to New York for One Show Festival Week would be the One Show Speaker Series featuring Jerry Della Femina, Kevin Proudfoot, Kerri Martin, and Brian Collins. On May 6, Jerry Della Femina would make a presentation on ‘Still Crazy After All These Years’, while Kevin Proudfoot would discuss the work of his agency Wieden + Kennedy, New York.

On May 7, Kerri Martin, former marketing executive for Volkswagen and Mini, would ask the question ‘Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Am I the Fairest Fair Client of Them All?’ Brian Collins, designer and former chairman of the Brand Integration Group (B.I.G.) at Ogilvy & Mather, would speak on the topic ‘East Meets West Meets East.’

The One Show Festival Week would conclude on May 9 at the Nokia Theater with the One Show Interactive Awards that recognise the best international digital media and web designs.

The One Awards have attracted 23,825 entries from more than 60 countries around the world.
