2-min video: Read, observe & absorb - Satbir Singh to young creatives

The advertising industry attracts its fair share of young hopefuls, however not everyone gets the right opportunity or meets the criteria to be the next big name in creativity. Satbir Singh, Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer, Havas Worldwide India feels that initiatives such as Portfolio Night provides a platform for young people to showcase their talent and for creative veterans to gauge the talent on offer.

As a judge at the Portfolio Night 11 in Mumbai, Singh witnessed that the youth are now creativity driven, but need to be shown the right path. He further noted that the youth are now digitally inclined and thus understand the importance of the medium and manage to utilise it well in their work.

“Students always learn and execute what they see and thus, it is important that the industry sends out the right message to the students,” Singh said. In a bid to give the students a fair view of the realities of the industry, Singh asks the youth to read, observe and absorb more, to be aware of what is happening around them and apply it.

The 11th edition of Portfolio Night rolled out at a star studded event on May 22, 2013 at the JWT office in Mumbai. Ninety students participated in the event, with 28 industry gurus as their judges.
