‘The Emvies 2004 was a blast’

We thought that this could be the right time to re-live some of the sizzling moments at the Emvies last year. To cut to the chase, around 60 odd delegates had turned up at the Taj Land’s End for the grand finale, and entertainment was big in the list of priorities with host Tarana and her wise cracks, a stand up comedian for the ripple fare and a live show by band VIVA. And there were lovelies like Ria Sen and Yana Gupta accompanying some of the industry heavy weights to give away the awards on stage.

Lodestar Media cantered away with the Media Agency of the Year Award. Weighing in at second place was Madison Communications. Sharing the second place was Group M. The award for the best Media Marketer of the Year went to Sony Entertainment Television, and the Grand Emvie to Jagran Prakashan. Yahoo was of course, the key sponsor of the event, completing four years of operations in India. Apurva Purohit was doubly congratulated on the occasion for organising the function, and for getting the launch of Times TV on schedule.

Said Abbas Muni from Carat, “The Emvies last year was a blast because there were some interesting entries that came by, and some high voltage entertainment. Plus, you had some of the industry bigwigs actually letting their hair down and having fun. I am glad that there is a forum such as Emvies, as it gives the media fraternity to get together and exchange notes on the kind of work that they have accomplished for key clients. I think that the media industry is divided on certain issues, and this is the place and time to push differences aside and to enjoy a day which celebrates the role of media in the entire brand building process.”

About Lodestar winning two times out of three, Muni said, “A lot depends on presentation actually and most of the agencies are so caught up in the day to day grill and do a half hearted job when it comes to presenting their case. I think that Lodestar must be doing a good job of presenting its work and highlighting the strong points.”

And this time, what’s on for the Ad Club? While the last date for receiving entries has passed away, Judging Round One would take place on June 3, Case Study presentation would happen on June 15 and the awards ceremony on June 23.
