The Union Budget coverage has spelled good news for the Network 18 channels. TAM Media Research data shows that in the core business news segment, CNBC-TV18 was the most watched channel on the day. CNN IBN led the English news channels pack. There is more good news for the Network with CNBC Awaaz leading the Hindi business news channels segment.
In the Finance Minister Union Budget speech coverage on July 6, 2009, TAM Media Research data shows that for the 11 am to 1 pm band, for the all India markets, in the target audience CS AB 25+, CNBC-TV18 had a channel share of 1.76 per cent. NDTV Profit was at 0.62 and UTVi had 0.07 per cent share. New comer ET Now had barely any numbers to show at present.
For the target CS AB Males 25+, CNBC-TV18 had a share of 3.03 per cent. NDTV Profit was at 1.10 per cent and UTVi had a 0.10 per cent share.
CNBC TV18 has scored more than the general English news channel as well, and the results are the same for the entire budget day coverage too.
For the target, CS AB 25+ on the all day data, CNBC-TV18 had a share of 0.50 per cent. NDTV Profit had 0.17 and UTVi was at 0.05. ET Now had 0.02 per cent share. For the core English news channels target, CS AB Males 25+, CNBC-TV18 had a 0.81 per cent share, NDTV Profit had 0.27 per cent share and UTVi was at 0.07 per cent. ET Now was at 0.03 per cent.
