MEC India adds Mercedes-Benz India business to its kitty

The year 2010 has brought some big wins for Mediaedge:cia (MEC) India. Following the back to back wins of Zee Entertainment and Colgate Palmolive, the agency has now added the Mercedes-Benz India business to its kitty. MEC will commence their partnership with Mercedes Benz with immediate effect.

Confirming the development, Manjiri Kamat, General Manager, MEC Mumbai and Bangalore, said, “It’s a real pleasure to have a prestigious brand like Mercedes Benz on our client roster. The company has aggressive growth plans for 2010 and we look forward to adding value through our unique Active Engagement approach. We look forward to exciting times ahead.”

On appointing MEC, Debashis Mitra, Director, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes Benz, said, “We are pleased to have MEC on board as our media planning and buying agency. We look forward to some great communication solutions emerging out of our partnership. This is also in line with our global alignment of media agency.”

Media Direction, the media services arm of RK Swamy BBDO, was the incumbent agency.

Mercedes-Benz India has been the pioneer of the luxury car segment in India with its inception in 1995. At present, Mercedes-Benz India’s engagement in India covers several domains like local production of Mercedes-Benz cars, making available imported Mercedes-Benz cars, commercial vehicle operations, global sourcing of auto components, and captive automotive technology research and development.
