Hamdard media pitch underway, 4 agencies in the fray

Hamdard (Wakf) Laboratories, Delhi has called for a media pitch. It is learnt that four agencies are currently in the fray, however, the names could not be ascertained. Media Direction, the media services arm of RK Swamy BBDO, is the incumbent agency. The pitch is currently underway and a decision on the agency is expected soon.

No official confirmation was available at the time of filing the report, but industry sources close to the development have confirmed the pitch call. Though the account size could not be ascertained, as per previous media reports, the business is worth over Rs 20 crore.

It may be recalled that in 2007, Hamdard had appointed Media Direction as its media AOR. JWT Kolkata and Triton Communication are handling the creative duties.

Hamdard has been in existence for a little over a century and is the largest manufacturer of Unani products in the world. It is the only company that produces products representing all three medicinal sciences – Unani, Ayurveda and allopathy. Late Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, a well-known Unani practitioner of his time, had established the company in 1906 in Delhi.

Today, Hamdard produces and markets over 600 products/ brands. Among its leading brands are Sharbat Rooh-Afza, a 100-year-old health drink; Cinkara; Safi; Roghan Badam Shirin; Sualin; Panchol; Hamdard Gripe Water; Chyavanprash; balm and a whole basket of other OTC products.
