FoodFood appoints Ogilvy India & Motivator as advertising partners

Astro All Asia Network and Sanjeev Kapoor’s specialty channel FoodFood have roped in Karthik Lakshminarayan as Chief Operating Officer. Abraham Thomas would drive the channel as the Project Head from Astro. The channel has signed on Ogilvy India as its creative agency, while Motivator has been roped in as media AoR.

FoodFood is the second channel to launch in this space, followed by Zee Group’s Khana Khazana. There is also Real’s Food First that is waiting to compete in this domain. Food First is likely to launch next month.

With over 12 years experience in media planning and buying, as COO of FoodFood, Lakshminarayan will overlook the television channel’s business duties and the entire mandate of promotion on various platforms, including digital, mobile and OOH. He will be reporting to Raghuvendra Madhav, Executive Director of India and South Asia for Media.

Lakshminarayan had started his career with Chaitra Leo Burnett in 1996, and then moved to Madison Media, where he successfully oversaw large number of key clients like Cadbury, Marico, Godrej, Axis Bank, McDonald’s, and so on. In 2010, after a two-year successful stint with Colors, Lakshminarayan joined Freemantle Media India as its Head of Commercial & Business Development, where he helped produce two highly successful reality Shows – ‘Indian Idol’ and ‘India’s Got Talent’.

As is known, Thomas left Red FM in November 2009 after being with them since March 2005 and helped grow it into a top rated station in Mumbai in terms of ad revenues. Prior to Red FM, he had worked with The Indian Express, SET Max and MTV Networks. He now works with Astro to help set up their broadcasting business.
