CavinKare appoints Contract for Chik on project

Recently CavinKare has been reshuffling its roaster of agencies for its various category brands. The company works on a mix of retainer and project based model with its roster of agencies. Recently, Contract Advertising has been bought on board for Chik shampoo and CK’s forthcoming Spinz Hair Colour brand. The agency will work on a project based model.

R Vishwanathan, Executive Director, CavinKare, confirmed the development of appointing Contract for the two brands. He mentioned that the company works on a roster of agencies for its different brands. However, these agencies work both on retainer and project based model. Saying that, Contract Advertising will work on Chik shampoo and Spinz hair colour on a project based assignment.

Currently, CK has Curry Nation and Leo Burnett as its creative AOR. The former handles Spinz Deo, Hi5 and Fairever. Leo Burnett India was bought on board to handle its forthcoming toothpaste brand. Vishwanathan did not divulge much detail on the new product.

Recently, the company had decided to work with agencies on project basis and in that regards Saints & Warrior and Cartwheel have been appointed to handle Garden snacks and Nyle shampoo respectively. Rediffusion Y&R handles CK’s Maa Juice brand. And as per recent developments, Contract Advertising will work on project for Chik and Spinz hair colour brand.

Recently, the marketing team of CK has moved to Mumbai. Confirming this development, Vishwanathan explained, “Of late, a number of players including CavinKare have moved out of Chennai into Mumbai to set up its marketing team. The brand management and advertising talent availability is much better in Mumbai.”

He further added, “CavinKare has a national footprint across its brands. Chik, for example, has a 40 percent share of the UP market. Similarly, Nyle is an out and out non south brand. Chinni’s pickles sells almost as much in East as it does in say Tamil Nadu. Garden, a brand that we bought is purely Mumbai based. Spinz and Indica have a very strong presence in the west markets. So, CavinKare is not just south based.”
