Recently, Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry (BB)brand appointed BBDO Worldwide to handle worldwide creative responsibilities. Following this development, BBDO India has benefited from the global alignment. The agency has been added to the roster the business.
There was no official confirmation on the development. However, sources close to the development mentioned that BBDO India shall now handle the business for India too as its roster agency and shall handle the work for BB’s new launch.
Orchard Advertising is the incumbent agency on the business and shall continue to handle the creative business. The agency had bagged the business in October 2010. It may be noted that the recent campaigns that are running on air have been created by Orchard Advertising. However, Starcom MediaVest continues to be the media AOR on the business.
The brand has geared itself in terms of aggressive communication. Blackberry is now no longer only about roping in high-profile consumers belonging to the upper SECs. Rather it is now attempting to reach new consumer segments with affordable variants.
