18th IBF AGM on Friday to elect new board members and President

As the date for the 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Members of Indian Broadcasting Foundation comes closer, there are speculations doing rounds about the election new President and new board members.


In 2016, Punit Goenka, Managing Director, zee-entertainment-enterprises_1328.html">Zee Entertainment Enterprises was elected as the President of The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF). Rajat Sharma (Chairman, India TV), NP Singh (CEO, Sony Pictures Network), Sudhanshu Vats (Group CEO, Viacom 18), K Madhavan (Managing Director, Asianet Communications) were elected as Vice-Presidents; and KVL Narayan Rao (Executive Vice-Chairperson, NDTV) as the Treasurer of the foundation for a period of one year.


One of the key agendas at the 18th AGM will be to elect members of the board of directors in place of the members of the board who are retiring by rotation which includes Goenka, who retires by rotation and being eligible has offered himself for re-appointment along with N. P. Singh of Bangla Entertainment. The list also includes I. Venkat of Eenadu, who retires by rotation at this Annual General Meeting and K. Madhavan of Asianet Communications.


In addition to them, the IBF secretariat has received nominations from the following members: Joy Chakraborthy, TV18 Broadcast Ltd,  Kartikeya Sharma, Information TV Pvt. Ltd,  Vijay Rajput, Discovery Communications, Mahesh Samat, Disney India, MK Anand, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. and Punit Misra, Zee Entertainment.


Established in 1999, IBF has been providing direction to its constituents based on the principles of collective wisdom on issues concerning the broadcast sector. This includes building consensus on matters that have quintessential effect on broadcasters at the governmental level as well as at other forums and, thus, carving out a roadmap to help create conducive business environment.
