NDTV Convergence has appointed Salil Kumar as COO-Business with effect from September 12. He comes in from Bharti Airtel Ltd where he was General Manager-Strategic Alliances and Business Development. At NDTV Convergence, he would be reporting to CEO Sanjay Trehan.
Commenting on Kumar’s appointment, Trehan said, “I am very happy to have Salil as a part of NDTV Convergence’s senior management. Salil’s induction will bring in relevant focus to revenue generation and help enhance operational efficiency. The two focus areas of Salil will be monetisation of the full service mobile portal that we would launch shortly, and global video content syndication.”
Commenting on his new assignment, Kumar said, “I am very happy to join NDTV Convergence at a time when so many exciting things are taking place here. I am keen to take up the challenge of monetisation of various opportunities that are emerging in the new media space. I will be focussing my energies on developing new revenue streams in mobile and rich media content syndication.”
Kumar has 15 years of experience in marketing. Prior to Bharti Airtel, he was with Hungama Group as VP-Sales and Syndication. He has also earlier worked with HT Media Ltd as General Manager-Business Development, Internet. He has spent over six years with Hindustan Times, where he was also heading the HT Syndication service. Prior to joining Hindustan Times, Kumar was with a horizontal portal Go4i.com, as e-Commerce Manager. He has also worked for two years with Nanz shopping mall as its Merchandising Manager. Kumar began his career as an FMCG distributor with HLL, now HUL.
