Prasoon Joshi wins Teacher’s Achievement Awards in communications category

In its sixth year, the Teacher’s Achievement Awards held recently in the capital honoured achievers in the field of communication, entertainment, sports and business, besides a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Prasoon Joshi, Regional Creative Director, McCann Erickson India and Southeast Asia, bagged the Award in the Communications category. Commenting on the win, Joshi said, “This is a special Award and the Award is as good as the jury. I thank all the people I learnt advertising from. I thank my team and above all I thank Teacher’s.”

The event also saw Pooja Bedi engaging Joshi along with Boman Irani and Karan Johar in a tête-à-tête. Replying to a question from Bedi, Joshi explained that all the ideas that he got came from his keen observation. For example in Coca-Cola’s commercial where Aamir Khan fetches Coke bottles from a well comes from real life where he has actually seen people store beer bottles in a well to keep them cool.

The other winners included Karan Johar, who received the Award in the entertainment category. The Teacher’s Achievement Award for the business category was bagged by Harsh Mariwala, Chairman and MD, Marico Industries Ltd. Rifleman Samaresh Jung won the Award for the sports category. Jagjit Singh was honoured with the Teacher’s Lifetime Achievement Award 2006. A special recognition was given to Arjuna Award winner Ashok Singh Malik for his contribution in the field of golf.

Since its inception in 2001, Teacher’s Achievement Awards has recognised achievers in diverse categories such as photography, science, theatre and the creative and performing arts.
