Positive growth for Kannada publications

Adding 13.44 lakh new readers since the Q1 2010, Kannada dailies have written a growth story in all the four quarters. Kannada language periodicals are also walking in the growth path, with the top three monthlies showing steady growth in all four quarters of IRS 2010.

After witnessing drop in readership in Q2, Vijay Karnataka has been able to maintain growth in Q3 and Q4 of IRS 2010. The daily has recorded an AIR of 34.80 lakh in Q4.

Prajavani has been able to maintain balanced growth throughout the year in 2010. The daily added 9.39 lakh new readers since Q1. Kannada Prabha has also seen positive growth in AIR. The paper has recorded an AIR of 12.37 lakh in Q4.

With an AIR of 11.92 lakh, Samyukta Karnataka has grown, adding 3.80 lakh new readers along the way. Meanwhile, Udayavani has seen some ups and downs in readership throughout the year, recording an AIR of 9.86 lakh in Q4 2010.

Interestingly, the top three Kannada monthlies have seen continuous growth in readership in all the four quarters of 2010. Sudha, Grih Shobha and Taranga have added 1.24 lakh, 28,000 and 54,000 new readers, respectively, since Q1 2010.
