Most dailies have seen a decline in readership in the Punjab market. Of the top 15 dailies, nine have seen a drop in AIR as per the IRS Q3 2010 results. Punjabi daily Ajit has retained its leadership position with a marginal growth. Punjab Kesari is the most read Hindi daily in the state, while The Tribune is the most read English daily.

The third quarter of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) indicates absolutely no change in the order of the top publications. Dainik Jagran and Dainik Bhaskar take the lead once again, followed by Hindustan, Malayala Manorama and Amar Ujala. The one evident change is that just one publication has witnessed a decline among the top 10 dailies. Overall, the dailies chart has seen growth.

English periodicals have done relatively well in IRS Q3 2010 after last quarter’s dismal performance. English monthlies, weeklies and fortnightlies have all recorded overall positive growth for the genre. Monthlies, weeklies and fortnightlies recorded a growth in AIR of 0.58 per cent, 3.91 per cent and 1.96 per cent, respectively.
