Wilkins began his career at Granada television
in 1988. After 18 months at Granada, Wilkin
left to join MTV Europe as Senior Research executive
responsible for developing and evaluating programme
sponsorship packages for the like of Braun,
Adidas etc.
In 1994, Wilkin’s Interest in advertising
lured him to BMP DDP, where he was brought in
to bridge the gap between the account planning
discipline and the media planning. He left BMP
DDP in 1997 to start a new department at media
independent New PHD, as Creative Communications
Director.
Wilkin also led the successful pitch team to
win the largest ever media strategy contract
awarded by BT, as well as working on several
other key accounts in a strategic capacity.
Wilkin lectured at many industry events including
media Circle, the IPA educational initiative,
the MRG, and a variety of AMAP conferences.
He also took part in the judging of many of
the industry awards both with the campaigns
and media week awards as well as the IPA Student
Awards.
Wilkin was promoted to Joint Managing Director
of New PHD in 1999 for a tenure he held for a
year, before leaving with John Harlow and Will
Collin to launch Naked Communications.
