shines at the Abby Awards with 58 metals |
| GoaFest
2008 culminated with the Abby Awards. There was much anticipation
and drama leading up to the Abbys this year. As is known, the
Abby Awards have done away with the ranking system this year.
O&M kept its flag flying high with the maximum 58 metals,
followed by Leo Burnett with 37 metals and JWT India with 30
metals.

Universal shines too |
| The
dismay over the leaking of the ‘supposed’ Abbys
winners list failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the Media Awards
that took place at GoaFest 2008 on April 4. There was loud cheering
throughout the Awards ceremony, and with two Golds, three Silvers
and one Bronze, MindShare cheered the loudest. A close second
was Lodestar Universal with five metals.

Report – India scores its highest ever rank of 14 |
| The
Gunn Report has ranked India at a high 14th slot in the awards
sweepstakes at GoaFest 2008. Releasing the report at the second
day of the GoaFest 2008, the head of the Gunn Report, Donald
Gunn, said that India’s ranking had gone up by six points
compared to last year.

quality of entries good at Abbys, though Radio disappoints,
say experts |
| AAbby
Awards at GoaFest 2008 has seen an upsurge in the quality of
all entries except for 'Radio and Radio Craft' category. Though
the exact number of entries in the respective categories could
not be ascertained, it is known that out of a total of 3,800
entries, over 1,200 are for 'Print and Print Category', and
around 1,300 for OOH. There are around 185 entries for 'Films'
and 380 entries for the Radio category.
