Yet again, the blank Cyber Lion year for India

Until PR Lions, Cyber Lions was the weakest category for India. The jinx was broken last year when India had won a Cyber Lions. However, it the same blank-Cyber Lion story for Indian this year again.

There was only one entry from Bates 141 that had made it to the shortlist but not to the winning list. Indian juror on Cyber Lions, Meera Sharath Chandra from Syzygy UK, said that India is a late bloomer and had got in the digital race later than most countries but that was not an excuse for not winning.

She said, “There is a whole range of things that need to change before we make any impact in Cyber Lions. Right now, clients are not oriented to look at the digital medium, and when what you get is the tail end of the budget for this medium, and the priority is on other mediums then even the agency orientation is not towards thinking big and different for the digital space.”

She added, “India is a late bloomer. We got into the technology race much later than many of our counterparts in other markets but that has changed now. Technology has levelled, and this can no longer be an excuse for not putting in good work.”
