AXN presents India’s first ever Action Awards

AXN has tied up with Thums Up to create a platform to give ‘Action’ stars their much-deserved credit through the first on-air Action Award event in India. The AXN Action Awards will premiere on July 9 at 8 pm.

Actor Dino Morea will present these awards to the tough guys who do jaw-dropping feats on the big screen. For the Awards, Morea will go on the sets of each of the action stars to felicitate them with their new prized possession. The Award categories include: Best Action Movie, Best Action Director, Best Action Sequence in a Movie, Best Action Actor and Best Action Actor in a Negative Role.

Elaborating on the initiative, Rohit Bhandari, Director of South Asia, Marketing & Sales, SPE Networks - Asia Pte Ltd, said, “Indian cinema produces some of the best action heroes in the world. So how could AXN resist helping our viewers felicitate the brawniest stars of them all? Thums Up and AXN are both brands that symbolise adventure, endurance and extreme challenge. The AXN Action Awards will be a never seen before comprehensive look at the action heroes, the movies and the people behind them.”

The AXN Action Awards will be presented by Thums Up, with Mahindra Scorpio and Sony Ericsson K750I as associate sponsors. The retail partner for the event is multiplex chain INOX.

Meanwhile, there is more action in store on the channel with its property ‘The Amazing Race Asia’. The new host for the show is Singapore-based TV personality Allan Wu. Having participated in an AXN signature programme, the US reality series ‘Fear Factor’, Allan Wu is no stranger to AXN viewers around the region.

This first-ever Asian Edition of ‘The Amazing Race’, a three-time Emmy award-winning reality series, marks a pivotal moment of the production. Business leaders in their own industry, the sponsors of ‘The Amazing Race Asia’ are strongly committed to provide consumers with a lifestyle of fun, adventure and thrills. The Amazing Race Asia is supported by Malaysia Tourism and Promotion Board, and the regional sponsors include Sony Electronics Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (Official Camera Partner), AirAsia, Caltex (Official Airline Partner), MSN, Nokia (Official Mobile Partner), and Bintan Lagoon Resort and Bintan Resorts (Official Hospitality Partner). Ford is a local sponsor.
