To recognise the inspirational stories of everyday Indians, who are doing their bit to bring about a positive change, CNN-IBN, in partnership with Jaypee Group, announced 14 winners of the inaugural edition of India Positive Awards in New Delhi on October 3, 2012.
Commenting on the Awards, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat said, “India Positive aims to explore and spread the goodness of Indians who enrich the lives of others and the society at large. These Awards are an effort to acknowledge the initiatives by such optimistic people who are a source of inspiration to fellow Indians.”
Sonali Mukherjee was felicitated with the Undying Spirit Award for her undeterred fight to bring her assailants to justice, who attacked her with acid in 2003 for complaining against them for eve-teasing.
The Special Achievement Awards were presented to Col DPK Pillay, who saved lives of two critically injured kids in a Manipur village and to Manohar Aich, former Mr Universe, who even at the age of 100 years, still pursues his passion of body building and stands as a sport icon for many.
The Awards ceremony will be telecast on CNN-IBN on October 20, 2012.
