Cannes Lions 2011: Indian entries fail to make a mark in Titanium and Integrated Lions

None of the Indian entries has managed to find a place in the Titanium and Integrated Lions shortlist announced at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on June 24, 2011.

Compared to four entries from India last year, this year saw the country entering 11 pieces of work in the Titanium and Integrated Lions category. Overall, the number of entries in this category has gone up from 396 in 2010 to 480 this year. Bob Scarpelli, Chairman, DDB Worldwide, is the Jury President for this category, while there is no jury member from India this year.

The Titanium Lion, brainchild of Dan Wieden, was originally introduced in 2003 to reward groundbreaking and innovative concepts in the world of advertising and marketing. The four Jury Presidents selected the winner of this award.

In 2005, Titanium Lions was re-launched as an integrated campaign category, but specifically to celebrate integrated communication with a difference, with the jury looking for work with an edge, a risk, a challenge to the norm.

Therefore, in 2006, entries were not restricted to a set number of executions or types of channel. But as before, there was no limitation to the boundaries of the media used. There were also no categories in Titanium Lions.

The Titanium and Integrated trophies will be presented during the Film, Film Craft, Creative Effectiveness and Titanium & Integrated Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Saturday evening, June 25, 2011, at the Grand Auditorium, Palais des Festivals.
