Amar Ujala’s Shashi Shekhar replaces Mrinal Pande as Editor-in-Chief of Hindustan

Mrinal Pande has put in her papers as Editor-in-Chief of Hindustan. Replacing her is Shashi Shekhar, who has been Group Editor & President – Editorial, Amar Ujala Publications.

Details about where Pande, a veteran journalist, television personality and author, is headed next couldn’t be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Shekhar, who now takes charge as Editor-in-Chief, Hindustan, brings with him 29 years’ experience in journalism, of which 25 years have been as an editor. He has been associated with Amar Ujala since 2002, when he joined the paper as Group Editor. In his seven-year stint at Amar Ujala, Shekhar launched six new editions and made it among the top three most read news papers in the country.

He began his career in print journalism in 1980, and within four years became the Resident Editor of the Allahabad edition of Hindi daily Aaj the age of 24. He forayed into TV journalism in 2000 as an Executive Producer in-charge of input for Aaj Tak.

Mrinal Pande has been associated with Hindustan for several years. She has also been Group Editor for Hindi publications of HT Media Ltd. She also hosts a weekly interview-based show, titled ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’, on Lok Sabha TV.

Pande had earlier worked for Doordarshan and Star News. She was the Editor of women’s magazine ‘Vama’ from 1984-87. As an author, she has also written quite a few short stories.

Set back for hindustan because due to her only hindustan got the heights in 2005 when hindi hindustan relaunch and accepted amongst readers of delhi so bad luck for hindustan.
Its really augur well for future of Hindustan (Hindi) at least because the kind of writing Pandey use to deliver was only understood by the so called intellectuals.Moreover the way she treated Kadambini is known to all.Once a landmark of Hindi Literature is now read by none .
